Germantown Kiwanis The Kiwanis Club of Germantown was formed on November 1, 1963. The Kiwanis Clubs of East Memphis and Memphis were the sponsoring clubs. Charter Night was held on Wednesday, December 11, 1963 at the Colonial Country Club. The Club's first president was attorney Bruce Law. The only charter member currently in the club is Boyd Maize.
The Club is one of ten Kiwanis clubs in the Memphis Area (Division 1C), and is second in size only to the Memphis Club. The Club is currently growing and approaching 70 in membership.
Our membership has included a number of lieutenant governors, including current members Norman Stringer, Bill Austin, Frank Hadaway, E. Sewell Dunkin, Bob Nichols, Russ Adsit, David Pickler, Allyson Avera and current Lieutenant Governor Joe Keohane.
The weekly club meeting consists of an excellent buffet breakfast, good fellowship, and entertaining and informative, programs. One of the club highlights is the annual Club December Holiday Party in which members spouses participate.
