Young Children: Priority One
The Kiwanis Club of Germantown has presented Madonna Learning Center with a check for $2,000 in keeping with the Kiwanis program: Young Children:Priority One.The club also honors students at Madonna each month with the Terrific Kids program.
Lifesaver and Hero Award
The Kiwanis Club of Germantown has honored Germantown resident Brian Coblentz with its "Lifesaver and Hero Award". Mr. Coblentz aided in the rescue of 3 year old Heather Wolff in January when the toddler, sledding down a steep embankment, found herself on the thin ice of the lake at Howard McVay Park. As Heather attempted to walk off the ice, it broke leaving her propped up by her arms. Mr. Coblentz was driving by with his family when he saw what happened. He plunged into the lake and lifted Heather out of the ice hole.The award was presented by Kiwanis Immediate Past President Sam Goff. Attending the ceremony was Mr. Coblentz's father-in-law Marion Flanagan (left) and his father Sam Coblentz (right).
